When I was a kid, there were only 2 kinds of air conditioners that I know – the window type, which I often called box aircon back in the days and the tower AC, which I used to call refrigerator sized aircon because it looks like a refrigerator. I was so blind and ignorant that I thought malls and buildings have several box and refrigerator type air conditioners in place just to make sure the place is cool and comfortable. However, I never found a single one running. The only box and refrigerator type ACs I could see were the ones put on sale. These malls may surely have done a great job in hiding them where I couldn’t see them.
But that was just the musings of a kid.
It took me several years before I was able to realize the truth about the ACs at the malls. And it was also the same time I was able to learn the truth… the truth that there are different kinds of ACs aside from the boxes and refrigerators. I learned this from my friend’s father who works as an AC technician. He taught me various facts about air conditioning units and corrected my wrong misconceptions about them. I learned about split ACs, cassette ACs, cube ACs and industrial AC systems, which happens to be the AC systems used by malls.
I also learned various things about ACs like they need to be maintained and cleaned regularly as well as how to do simple maintenance but I don’t think I can remember that much today. In fact, now that I think of it, I don’t know how to maintain our AC. I would often call Eco Pro AC and let them handle the maintenance instead.
Anyways, I am really glad I was able to learn the fact about ACs. You see, I really hate being ignorant because ignorance leads to making a fool of yourself. I don’t want to be humiliated in public just because I don’t know how malls get their cooling.
